Summary:
So this week's chapter was all about action, not that I'm complaining.
We started off with a few color pages, awesome, but we have still yet to get into the real action of this chapter.
It seems like the chakra of the Ten-Tails has been revived and is currently residing inside the Gedo Mazo.
Bee, Kakashi, and Gai seem intimidated but ready to face the beast if they need to. Then we have Naruto facing off with Tobi in a staredown.
Naruto goes into Bijuu Mode and makes a shadow clone, attempting to make a mini Tailed Beast Ball, Kakashi goes all Mangekyou and Gai pulls out his nunchucks. Naruto in Bijuu mode and Kakashi with the Mangakyou are normal, but when Gai pulls out his nunchucks, you know shit's about to go down.
Anyways, Gai and Kakashi warn Naruto of Tobi's strength and intelligence and tell him that he has to trick Tobi to win.
Naruto charges at Tobi, but Tobi goes intangible and shadow clone Naruto passes right through him. Tobi then whirles around and slams the shadow clone with his fan. But behind him Naruto attacks with an extended arm of chakra with the tailed beast ball in it. But the arm passes right through because Tobi is no longer solid. Tobi turns around and makes a grab for Naruto's face. However it's at this time that, with the help of Bee, Gai comes flying in with his nunchucks aimed at Tobi's head.
Tobi realizes this and turns and blocks the nunchucks with his giant fan and on the recoil throws some kunai at Tobi. Like the badass he is, Gai blocks te kunai with spins from his nunchucks. Tobi decided to kill off Gai first and makes a lunge at him. Using his foot, Gai swings his nunchucks around at Tobi's face who goes intangible to pass through the nunchucks and Gai.Then using a rope attached to his fan, Tobi throws his fan at Gai's back, who blocks it by bringing his nunchucks behind his back.
Naruto remarks how awesome Gai is(I completely agree with him), before charging up another tailed beast ball in his palm. Meanwhile Kakashi has built up his chakra and fires of Kamui and Gedo Mazo. At first Gedo Mazo distorts but suddenly stops making Kakashi question about something that is yet to be revealed. Tobi tells Kakashi that he is to optimistic while dodging Naruto's attacks.
Finally it seems that Naruto has made contact between Tobi and the Tailed Beast Ball. However when the debris clears, Tobi seems to be missing. All of a sudden Tobi pops up from out of the ground right underneath Naruto who jumps away. Tobi then uses his fan to trap Naruto and hit him. Gai tryies to get to Naruto who is now defending but is unable to because of flying rocks. Kakashi goes to Naruto's aid when he charges up a kunai with lightning chakra and throws it at Tobi. Tobi sees it coming, so instead of being able to grab Naruto, he goes intangible at his hand passes right through Naruto and the kunai passes through his head. Tobi then uses his left foot to redirect the kunai at Naruto. Kakashi uses his Kamui to warp away the kunai while Naruto launches a punch at Tobi. The punch harmlessly passes through Tobi's face. Naruto retreats as Kakashi and Gai arrive. Tobi stands up and a crack is shown in his mask.
My Thoughts:
I think this chapter was awesome. We finally get to see what will become the legendary showdown with Tobi. Tobi shows us his ability to keep up with two Jinchuriki and two famed jounins at the same time. The action was good but some parts were a bit hard to understand and some of the action wasn't as good as it should have been, such as when Tobi trapped Naruto and Kakashi threw his kunai. I felt the sequencing in those frames could have been better.
Gai shows his true epicness in this chapter and he and Kakashi get some much needed screentime. They have been off camera for a while now. What Kakashi did, I expected as much of him, but Gai goes toe-to-toe with one of the world's most infamous criminals and almost pulls of the upset. Gai's nunchucks make their return;I think those weapons are totally awesome for him. Before this war, I was thinking Gai should be getting more active in the series, but this chapter seemed to make up for it with his great, but short, fight with Tobi. An yes, I am Gai fan.
Anyways, I think Bee should've been able to do more than just stand around and hurl a few people here and there. Although Bee isn't quite one of my favorite characters, this is one of those fights where I think he should shine along with the other three.
All in all, this was a solid chapter with some refreshing fighting and a strange occurence(Kakashi not being able to use Kamui on Gedo Mazo). Hopefully, the next chapter will be as good as this one, if not better.
